Rippling Ideas - a celebration of our first few months
Over 11k YouTube views, 2.5k resource downloads and 1.6k podcast listens. And those first two are only since our launch in September!
News from Rippling Ideas
We thought we would take a break from our usual format and share our success from our first few months of being an actual non-profit! We’ve achieved more than we expected and have some exciting work planned for 2026 already!
It’s worth highlighting that our numbers throughout this newsletter are a result of word of mouth. We’ve still yet to embark on any kind of advertising efforts or really make much noise about what we’re doing.

Our impact
Our resources have already been downloaded over 2500 times and viewed over 3800 times. To have achieved this in only a few months is something we’re very proud of!
Our content creation
Preprints in Motion
The podcast returned this year with one of our best episodes yet - the strain on scientific publishing. We’re ending with an often under discussed aspect to open science - Open Hardware. We also introduced a new format - Walks with Jessie - where it’s just you and me discussing a given topic. Our most listened to was all about the pressures of being a postdoc.
This year the podcast had over 1600 listens across podcasting platforms.
The Metascience Podcast
Whilst we’re still looking to secure funding for our big Metascience podcast, we recently secured our first external contract to deliver a podcast for another organisation - look out for the announcement early 2026.
Rippling Ideas YouTube Channel
Although we only launched in September, we’ve had over 11,000 views. That’s over 45 hours of collective watch time across 31 videos. We have initially focussed on creating whiteboard animations to explain preprints and scientific publishing - which we hope are useful tools for other organisations in this space.
Other growth
Our BlueSky channel has reached over 100 followers, with a further 100 followers on LinkedIn.
Looking ahead to 2026
We’re actively seeking funders and clients, currently developing our first proposals and projects.
If you’d like to donate financially, you can do so here.
We’re also looking for collaborators and volunteers - we want you as part of our tribe. So please share this newsletter with those you know and recommend us as widely as possible.
There are many opportunities to get involved with our metascience work too.
What’s coming up?
In late Jan, we will release a report and recording for the first in our “State of preprints” series.
We have a “preprints 101” training course under development which will release early 2026.
Preprint myth busting videos and an expansion of our YouTube output
Preprint policy resource sections
We’re creating a public Google LLM Notebook that will contain curated preprint related resources and evidence which will form a trusted source for people to interact with via AI.
We’re also attending the R2R conference in Feb - come say hi if you’re there!
